- I grew up around Yazoo City, MS. I made my living as an industrial salesman because my wife and six kids had to have food and shelter. I wrote a weekly column for the Yazoo Herald because I loved to write. My crowning achievement was writing the life story of Herb Shreve.
In Feb 2024, I met Harlan Powell while doing rehab in the VA hospital in Jackson MS. I discovered he wrote the story of Herb Shreve and also the story of how he became an extra in the movie, O Brother Where Art Thou.
